- Cloth or rubber-insulated cables visible in the panel — should have been replaced 30 years ago
- No RCD/differential in the panel — modern code requires one
- Single breaker for the whole apartment — overloaded, trips constantly
- Brown marks or melted plastic around outlets — overheating
- Aluminium wiring (silver-colored) — fire risk at every connection point
