Is It the Grid or Your Installation?
Look outside: if the neighbours and the street lighting are also dark, it is a network outage and the distribution operator handles it. If only your home is affected, the fault sits between your meter and your circuits — typically the main breaker, the RCD, a damaged supply cable or a serious fault on one circuit. What to Do While You Wait
1. Switch off high-power appliances so the installation is not restarted under full load. 2. Try the main breaker once. If it trips straight back, leave it off. 3. Do not open the meter enclosure or seals. 4. Keep fridge and freezer doors shut — food is usually safe for hours. 5. If there is a smell of burning, or smoke, leave the room and tell us on the phone: that changes how we approach the job.
How We Restore Power
We split the installation into sections and re-energise them progressively to isolate the faulty part. In most cases power is restored on the healthy circuits quickly, even when one circuit has to stay off until a repair is completed. You always get told what failed, what was done, and what still needs attention.
